Harvest Moon for this year
The Harvest Moon is typically the moon in September. However, the
traditional placing of the Harvest Moon is the moon closest to the Autumnal
Equinox (around September 21st). For 2009, the Autumnal Equinox takes
place on September 22nd, so the full moon of October 4th is the Harvest Moon.
Because of that, the moon for September is named the Corn Moon as the corn is
drying out at that time and the actual harvest is moved out.
This greatly affects the Hunter and Beaver moons (October/November).
Tradition states that the Hunter Moon follows the Harvest Moon. Because of
the additional moon between the Sturgeon and the Harvest Moon (without a Blue
Moon), either the Hunter or Beaver moon gets dropped for the year. This
can bring about a period of confusion, especially for animals and energy
workers. The animals (Hunter Moon), who are the main spokespersons of
November are busy preparing for the winter (Beaver Moon). Watch the
animals during this time, for they are not speaking directly.
Blue Moon
The Blue moon is a source of dissention among researchers. It can either
be the second "new" moon of a given month or the second "full" moon within that
month.

The Sturgeon Moon (full moon on August 9th)
The Sturgeon Moon brings abundance and plenty - if you are the fisherman.
It brings added danger if you are the fish. Look at both sides of the
issue. Try stepping back and seeing through someone else's eyes. The March, Worm Moon energy brings a double dose of
renewal. Look to habits you would like to break or wisdom from the past to guide
you this month.
-
New Moon: (July 24th) The new moon is a
time to set your goals for the coming month. Gather your thoughts with the
energies of the Harvest Moon, which tells us to bring together what you’ve
been working on all year long. Let go of what is holding you back and prepare
to be busy getting the final details of a lot of projects done.
-
Crescent Moon: (July 27th) Take your first
steps toward your desires. Sometimes it is as simple as just taking that first
action. The Low Tide reminds you that there are two ways of looking at things.
You may feel emotional exposed (afterall, you are releasing a lot of energy)
or you can think of it as a cleansing, preparing the way for other ideas to
come back in. It’s your choice.
-
First Quarter Moon: (August 2nd) You should
be well underway by now. Refine your goals, without being critical of
yourself. After coming off the emotional low of the last few days, the Flower
Moon of May reminds you to stop and look at the beauty around you. Think about
projects that may need to be reprioritized to the Fall instead of now. You
have a ton on your plate. It’s OK to move something out to a later due date.
-
Gibbous Moon: (August 6th) You are almost
there, keep moving up, but don’t lose sight of the big picture in the details.
The Lunar Eclipse brings clarity to your decisions. There is no undue
emotional influence, so the decision is yours to make.
-
Full Moon: (August 9th) A full moon brings
around fulfillment, achievement, and success. The Wolf Moon from January
reminds you to look to your home and family. What goals did you set at the
beginning of the year? How are you doing on them? Use the energy of the Full
Moon to bring about completion to those goals.
-
Disseminating Moon: (August 12th) Share
with others what you have learned during this past moon. It’s a beautiful
thing when you share, and the Pink Moon from April helps you find the courage
to start talking.
-
Last Quarter Moon: (August 15th/16th) Take
care of the final details, make sure the contract is signed or those last
minute adjustments made it into the plan. The Blue Moon arrives to give you an
added boost toward your goals. You have the energy to “do over”.
-
Balsamic Moon: (August 20th) This is the
time to release and cleanse of everything that happened during the moon, in
order to get ready for the next moon. The Snow Moon arrives to help you
through these days. You may feel overwhelmed with everything that has happened
this month. Take some time to sort things out and get ready for the Corn
Moon in August.
Overall: It is interesting to note that the energies from the beginning
of the year are prevalent this month. 5 of the previous Moons are actively
participating in the cycle this Moon, which means you need to look to what has
happened this entire year in order to understand what is going on now.
